Bid S-Mart
July 15, 2003

The original artwork for the "Army of Darkness" movie poster is up for auction on eBay right now, with about 8 hours left to bid as I write this... I don't know that I've ever wanted a spare $7,000 as much as this moment. It's an oil painting on wood that measures an impressive 3 feet by 5 feet.

Makes a man wonder at what point in the distant future will scientists be able to measure the amount of "cool" this masterpiece exudes?

I saved a copy of a photo from the auction right here.

Here's the write up from the auction description: "That?s right, you?re not seeing things. This in an auction for THE ORIGINAL PAINTING used on the now infamous ARMY OF DARKNESS movie poster directed by SAM (Spiderman, Evil Dead) RAIMI and staring BRUCE CAMPBELL, and has since been used on everything from toy packaging to t-shirts to lunchboxes. This HUGE original was painted in oil on wood by artist MICHAEL HUSSAR in 1992. This was a commissioned piece painted especially for the film. It measures a tremendous 3 feet wide by 5 feet in height and an inch and a half thick! This is an original painting, not a print! Buyer pays all shipping charges to be determined at auction?s end."

Update: That bad mama-jama went for an impressive $15,400. That $7k I was wishin' for woulda left me high and dry. Prolly would've just spent it all on pennywhistles and moonpies.
